Bayside Seeds was founded over 30 years ago by Lyle Grigg. Mr. Grigg’s mission for the company was to offer the best possible corn hybrids and soybean varieties at the lowest possible prices. He intended to sell seed within a ten mile radius around his home in Munger, Michigan.

As farmers saw what Bayside Seeds had to offer, the company began to grow. Currently, our customer base is spread throughout all of Michigan, New York, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin and Ontario, Canada.

Our focus is still the same. We are dedicated to offering the best possible hybrids at the lowest possible prices.

Independent Testing

In 1995, Bayside Seeds annual sales volume doubled. This was due mainly to the response from the results of Michigan State University Testing and County corn trials throughout Michigan. Bayside Seeds was entered in seven county corn trials and we won four of those trials - all the rest of the competition combined, won only 3.

Bayside Seeds has continued to be the only company to offer lower priced hybrids and enter these hybrids in independent trials and compete with the “BEST” and BIGGEST in the industry today.

Lower Price

How does Bayside Seed’s sell its products for so much less?

• Overhead. Bayside Seeds is a family owned company without elaborate facilities and a large number of sales personnel. We also feel that trips, fancy coats and ATV’s may be nice but the customer pays for them in the end. These “free” promotions add substantial costs that the farmer pays for with higher priced seed. Product performance is the key in the long term and Bayside performs.

• Production. Bayside utilizes independent producers to contract produce their hybrids. These producers have been selected based on quality and integrity over the 30 years we have been in business. We believe we deal with the absolute best production people in the industry today.

• Margins. Bayside per unit profit on a bag of seed sold is substantially less than anyone else in the industry.

• All seed corn production is subject to vigorous purity and quality standards before it is ever put in a Bayside bag. Examples include winter grow outs, state certification and inspection.

• All soybean production has been grown under a voluntary quality assurance program which provides for unbiased field inspections, laboratory testing, and post season grow out testing of purity and germination both before and after conditioning.
